Frequently asked questions

Is grain-free dog food better?

For most dogs, no. Grain-free is only medically indicated when a veterinarian diagnoses a grain allergy. FDA monitoring associated some grain-free diets with dilated cardiomyopathy, so we do not recommend them without a diagnosis.

How do I switch dog foods safely?

Transition over 7–10 days: 25% new food for a few days, then 50%, then 75%, then 100%. If stools loosen at any step, hold at that ratio for two more days.

Is fresh food better than kibble?

Fresh food can have advantages in palatability and digestibility, but a complete-and-balanced kibble meets the same nutritional requirements. Pick based on budget, storage, and your dog’s tolerance.

How much should I feed my dog?

Start with the bag’s recommendation, then adjust to your veterinarian’s body condition score. The bag range is wide because dogs vary — treat it as a starting point, not a target.

Does my dog need supplements?

A complete-and-balanced base diet should not need supplements. Adding supplements without testing can cause imbalances — talk to your vet first.
